These days having a cellphone is standard equipment for college studentshigh school students junior high school students. (How many parents haven't been sold on the idea that you must know where your child is at all times in order to protect him/her?)
I have had similar thoughts. Being in Japan this past year I've been exposed to a much more settled version of life than I've ever seen before. It's strange and in some ways makes me feel a bit disconnected.
