...Oh! In less garbled inarticulations, one must, if they are to consider themselves of proper breeding, have read The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity (1987) wherein the estimable Carlo M. Cipolla (1922?~2000) lays out indeed what the title proclaims in five glorious movements replete with illustrative graphs conjoined with inlayed illuminations. Stolen forthwith from cerebrate, I'm a particular fan of the Fourth Law.
