I'll accept simplified spelling from someone who isn't able to write any other way. Personally, though, I just think the educational system needs a complete makeover. Maybe if we paid teachers enough to live on, gave enough funding to schools to buy proper textbooks and turned off the goddamn fucking televisions every now and then kids would learn.
I've known students with learning problems (hell, I've been one), but I've known far more that were in simplified classes because nobody could be bothered to teach them things when they were young and they can't be bothered to learn them now. So, instead of caring about our youth, why not just dumb down the entire world for them so nobody will ever have to think twice?
Becoming a bilingual nation has a nice ring to it. Find a simpler language (or make one up), work it in over a generation or two, and voila, we have people who speak two languages and can write properly in at least one.
Forgive me if I'm missing the point, I'm really tired (and yet, I'm still managing to type. WOW!).
