unfortunately, I don't have on-the-fly access to the historical etymology of all the words that have found their way into my active vocabulary. and even if i did, I'm not sure how much it would help. I'm the sort of person who spellchecks his instant messages, and there are some words that I get wrong so consistently that I have an autocorrect list:
