Congrats on IU! Another friend of mine seems likely to end up there for grad school next year (though for something women's studies/pop culture-esque). Don't have any advice for you really, since my knowledge about grad stuff is pretty limited to psych programs which are kind of different. I can empathize with the whole temptation to pursue things because you have talent in them though; it's probably just as well for me that I developed a rat allergy since that made it a whole lot easier to ignore neuroscience/psychobiology and focus on my true love of clinical psych.
