elitists will boycott. i've watched editors scoff at submissions, "can you *believe* the way they wrote this?" and i've watched the smug smiles people try to hide when they whip out their bright red pen and scribble incoherently over some poor schmuck's work.
there is a power in words. good spelling and grammar implies better education, a better financial situation, even better breeding. if can't spell, then you must've grown up in a bad neighborhood, or went to a shitty school, or were lazy, stupid, or contain some genetic mistake that makes it hard for you.
have a typo in your resume? good luck getting a job.
what i'm saying, or trying to say is this: the language won't change, because it creates a nice barrier between the haves and have-nots. and the haves like it this way.
