One of the things that fascinates me about being alive today is the everpresent march towards realizing those futuristic dreams we had in the 1980s. Yet another step has been made by a Japanese research team: a power cell that can draw energy from human blood (the glucose therein actually) without using toxic substances. They've already used it to power a primitive biomonitor, pacemakers are a likely next step.

As long as the self-replicating robots don't team up with the human blood fuel cell, I think we're fine...
